while looking through the pictures of the sand mandala isn’t as good as having it in front of me, it makes me feel the same way. i wanted to cry and scream, “NO!” when something so beautiful and painstakingly made was altered, but that’s part of the point of the mandala, is it not?

i found a book more tedious to read than the Bible!
there was a decapitation, which managed to be anticlimactic. some husband was whipped, and that was still rather dreary. i think tracing the family tree all the way back (not even in chronological order, mind you) kind of killed it. the book is 192 pages, and the main character first appears on the 63rd one. it’s not even thick, cushiony,...

went to the sand mandala dissolution ceremony. i thought i was going to cry when they were dissolving the sand mandala. the monk/translator reminded us that the mandala wasn’t truly destroyed, but merely reshaped. i have a little bag of sand that has been consecrated by the monks! i bought a necklace and a CD of sacred healing chants of tibet. i can’t wait to listen to it!! ^.^

so i just got to hang out with the monks and make a butter sculpture with them. heck yeah. pics later. sand mandala dissolution ceremony@4 and i’ll get to keep some of the sand! can i get a woot woot?

heard a kid beatboxing on the stairs today and thought he was having an asthma attack. (ftr, he was really bad.)
remember those monks i mentioned earlier? as i was heading back to rutherford post-dindin, they were all sitting at the tables on the lawn. they were heading inside as well and one of them got his robes stuck on the door. the other monks laughed&made fun of him! ^.^ (not maliciously, of course)
